Never Going Back Again - Fleetwood Mac - Song of the Week #22

Never Going Back Again

This gem of a song is the 3rd track off the spectacular Rumours album. Written by Lindsey Buckingham, it's lyrics reveal a look inside the illusion of never feeling sadness once content with life. It was inspired by a short fling he had with a woman from New England, and gives us a good idea of his romantic pursuits and let downs. Originally created as an acoustic demo entitled "Brushes", the band later added instrumental and vocal layers to created a fuller sounding piece.

The star of this simple song is undoubtedly Buckingham's stellar finger work. It may be an uncomplicated brief composition, but it certainly doesn't lack emotion, charm, or significance. I revel in the simplicity every time I hear it like it's my first listen. Definitely not a track that should be overlooked!

Here's the cut off the album

Happy Listening!
