Oh Daddy - Fleetwood Mac - Song of the Week #24

Oh Daddy

This song is a perfect mix of dark and light. Fusing a strummed acoustic guitar & soothing electric piano with dominant chordal strikes & a colorful bass line, it is an exceptional listen.  Christie McVie lends her enchanting vocals to create a innocent type of vibe which is nicely offset by the vocal harmonies create by Buckingham & Nicks. The lyrics "Oh Daddy" are a direct reference to Mick Fleetwood, who at the time was seen as the leader and glue that held the band together. Both John & Christie, and Lindsey & Stevie's relationships were tumultuous. Without Mick, the band may not have had the chance to shine. Maybe he was able to see through the relationship drama to the true talent and magic that he had right in front of him, but smart enough to allow them to use the music as an outlet, thereby creating Rumours, an undeniably fantastic musical work.

Here's the cut off the album

Happy Listening!
