"Radio Ga Ga"
This pop dance tune focuses on the power that listening to a radio has had on many lives. For those who grew up listening to radios as their sole form of entertainment and information, this should bring back the old times. Now we've moved so far from the days when we relied on just our ears to entertain us. We have TV, Movies, and visuals to accompany sound, and while coupling these two elements breeds a wonderful option for entertainment, it may sometimes not be as satisfying as simply listening. By listening you are able to use your imagination, and are more likely to hear intricate details you would have missed while being distracted by the visual presentation. Not to mention... whoever has had their hand in the visual production is imposing their idea of what something should look like on you! In a way they're telling you what to see/think. Music, especially, should first be listened to and analyzed without seeing, then if you choose to view the artist's creative visual presentation of their work, you make the choice to do so. I guarantee you will be impressed by how much more you hear by just listening.
Now-a-days I am disappointed(to say the least) with the repertoire of new music being played on the radio. Frankly, the repetitive beats, the "I know where this is going" chord progressions, and the under developed melodies rarely peak my interest. Nevertheless, popular music will always have it's place, and purpose to serve. It is what it is! If I do have to listen to the radio instead something I personally choose, I usually tune in to the oldies stations, which are still playing music that can be inventive, intriguing, and sometimes I'm surprised by the downright genius I've forgotten about.
Two things you should take away from this:
You are granting yourself a disservice if you don't make time, sometimes, to use your senses to the extent of there capabilities.
Just Listen!
&
Don't allow someone else to always be putting visuals in your head before you get a chance to come up with your own ideas.
Use Your Imagination!
Here's the video...Take a listen with your eyes closed first.
